On July 19, 1953, in Lafayette, Louisiana, God blessed the world and Robert and Cora Lee Sr. with a precious baby girl, who they named Rita Jane Lee.

Rita confessed her life to Christ at an early age to Star Light Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Adam Joseph. The family later joined Morning Star Baptist Church. As an adult, she joined True Vine Christian Fellowship Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Mickel W. Perry, Sr., where she served until her death under Pastor Reginald Houston as Mission President and Sunday School Superintendent.

On October 11, 1979 she graduated with a Diploma from Massey Business College. In January 2008, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Biblical Studies. In September 2009, she became a Certified Crisis Chaplin at the Faith Based Counselor Training Institute. The Lord Jesus Christ was first and foremost in her life.

Sis. Rita was a Dietician at Height Hospital in 1976. She began working at Harris County Tax Office in 1980. She retired in December 2006 after working there for 27 years.

She married Gilbert Doucet in 1971. They had one child, Harold James Doucet. In 2003 she married William Aldridge, who preceded her in death in October 2007.

Rita enjoyed working with the youth, she was an avid gardener and she loved entertaining and cooking. When you visited her, she made sure you did not leave hungry. She would also give you fresh fruit, vegetables, or fruit preserves made from her very own garden.

As her health begin to fail, her spirit and faith grew stronger until the very end. She departed this life on October 22, 2012 after a two year battle with breast cancer.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents Robert Lee, Sr. and Cora Offord Lee; her brother, Robert Lee, Jr.; and her sister, Esther Mae Doucet. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving son Dr. Harold James Doucet, daughter-in-law, Kimberley Doucet; grandchildren Natashia Chantal Doucet, Harold Christopher Doucet and Courtney Alexandra Doucet; her sisters, Theresa Guillory, Wilda Randolph (Raymond), Ella Lois Lee, Mary Mingo (Earl) and Patricia Lee; one sister-in-law, Florence Lee; and her four god-children, Neal Doucet, Lucretia Carmouche, Eli Smith and Micah Perry. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
